Instead of paying for your warm winter excursion, let the getaway pay you for your trip. San Luis Obispo, a central coast city in California, is paying the first 500 winter vacationers $100 to visit the area. For you to get in on the cash, you have to go through the city’s official website and book a stay at the city hotel for two nights. Once you’ve done this, you need to email the confirmation to [email protected] to get your promotion confirmation number.

Once you check into your hotel go to the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center, bringing with you three things – the hotel room key, proof of booking and confirmation number. You’ll be given $100 for doing so.

The offer is only open for the first 500 people who make the reservation and send it to the above email address. It’s not known if the offer is being given to one per person or per party. And, if you don’t receive a confirmation number, you don’t get the $100. It’s also available from Jan. 1 to March 31 with three blackout dates – Jan. 19, Feb. 16 and Feb. 17.

Tourists, even if they decide not to take the city’s offer up, can partake in the various San Luis Obispo sites. These include the 18th-century Spanish mission called the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, the many Bishop Peak trails, the infamous Bubblegum Alley, which is a 70-foot pedestrian walkway that’s thought to contain about two million pieces of chewed bubble gum.

You can learn more about the city’s offer and the many attractions by going to the San Luis Obispo vacations website.
