The Caribbean! This is no doubt one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. It boasts of clean blue seas, sparkling white sand and the summer sun just makes everywhere else seem very drab. It is made up of more than 7000 different islands and each of them has a unique charm of its own.

For the adrenaline junkies, the Caribbean islands will offer you the best and most challenging but yet exciting experiences you will ever endure. The adventures can range from scuba diving through underwater caves and volcanic ruins, zip lining through a rainforest canopy, river kayaking and many other activities that will make you feel on top of the world. Without further ado, here are the best adventure travel destinations for first-time visitors in the Caribbean.

1. Jamaica.

Although this is one of the smallest islands in the Caribbean (4244 square miles), don’t let its size fool you. There is a lot going on on this island, it has even been repeatedly voted among the best beach destinations by the world travel awards. Jamaica is full of interesting attractions and amazing activities, one visit is not enough to explore all of them. You can snorkel from the rocky cliffs of Rockhouse beach; have a night swim at the luminous lagoon; go rafting at the Martha Brae River; and if you are not more of a water person, you can go hiking in the John Crow Mountains National Park. The expeditions that you can explore on this island are just endless.

Well, the adventure does not only entail exploring the elements of nature. You could also explore the history of the island by visiting some of its historic sites like the national heroes park and the Rosa Hall Great House, which was home to the cruel slave master. If you develop more interest in the history of the islands, you can have a quick trip to Cap-Haïtien, Haiti and witness a more interesting history. In this port city of Haiti, you can be able to explore several French colonial architectures including the Cathedral Notre Dam de Cap Haitien and The Citadelle which dates back to 1805. You can also take time and visit Paradis, a small alluring sandy cove set in a tropical landscape a boat ride away from Labadee. There is a beautiful bar near the cove where you can enjoy several of Haiti’s snacks and beverage.

2. The Cayman Islands.

The Cayman Islands encompasses 3 beautiful islands in the western part of the Caribbean sea; The Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and the Little Cayman. The best thing about the Cayman Islands is that you can island hop and experience different activities while being relatively on the same island.

While at the Grand Cayman, you can explore the Cayman crystal caves, snorkel at the barrier reef and coral gardens of Stingray city, travel in a cabin cruise among other fun activities; Cayman Brac is popular for deep sea fishing excursions and it also has some amazing snorkeling hot spots; and while at the Little Cayman, you can explore some of the most diverse wildlife including the red-footed boobies and the endangered iguanas.

3. Trinidad and Tobago.

These dual sister islands are one of the southernmost islands of the Caribbean. Despite the fact that they are at a distance from the rest, the experience is worth the travel. In these two islands, you will get to experience the rush of outdoor activities. You can go hiking through the rainforest up to the Island’s highest waterfall; surf in the biggest waves you will ever see; go sport fishing; and you could also have a more pleasant activity, Bird watching at the Caroni Bird Sanctuary among very many other fun activities. There are even some companies in Trinidad that provide horse rides in the ocean, how cool is that?

There is no other place in the entire world that can offer you the experience and feel of the Caribbean Islands. This is the capital of all tourist destinations. Whether you are looking to relax, party, or go for various adventures, the Caribbean islands have it all. There is almost no fun adventure activity that you cannot find in these islands.
