From villages to big cities, festivals and events bring people together to celebrate culture, heritage, cuisine or just about anything. From religion to music, from agriculture to sports, from food to just plain fun, festivals and events sustain communities and encourage travel all over the world.
A trip or a small drive to an event with friends or with family needs no reason except just fun. And most importantly we can take a break from our daily routines and experience some celebration without going away too far. Festivals reminds us of our cultures, traditions, and above all is a time to celebrate with family.

My first day interning at World Footprints was very educational because I was able to attend the Smithsonian Folklife Festival that featured the country of Colombia. It was exciting, especially because I have never traveled to Colombia and my experience at the festival was amazing. I was able to absorb a lot of information at the festival because it was divided by the bio-cultural diversity of Colombia, so the rest of the visitors and I were able to feel like we were in the actual country, rather than in Washington D.C. at a festival. It also gave guests the opportunity to thoroughly learn about one region of Colombia at a time.
Toronto's Caribana Festival is the largest Caribbean festival in the world and the biggest cultural festival in North America. This vibrant celebration of life, art, and music transforms the city of Toronto each year during its two-week run.
Our journeys often bring us to the White House for remarkable events, and this day was no exception. We were invited to cover a special ceremony where President Obama honored the 2009 Super Bowl Champions, the New Orleans Saints. "Who Dat!"

On November 26, 2010, First Lady Michelle Obama warmly welcomed the arrival of the White House Christmas tree. This magnificent 18.5-foot Douglas-fir traveled from the Crystal Springs Tree Farm in Pennsylvania to become the stunning centerpiece of the Blue Room.
