One of our friends had seen a photo of this place on the Baja peninsula, but other than that, we knew very little about our destination.
We were the lucky ones: As a family, we were able to hit the road and travel from Sydney to the Tweed Coast (northern New South Wales) without hindrance or hesitation. In any other year, the road trip along the East Coast of Australia can bring a sense of adventure and wonder.
Some of you may ask why I chose Guatemala — especially if you’re like my parents whose idea of adventure is an all-inclusive trip to Cuba.
My last trip was in February 2020, just a month before the coronavirus pandemic shut much of the world down for months on end.
But for many of us wanderlust-filled souls, there is one major influence on our well-being that the pandemic discourages — and that is travel.
