One of our friends had seen a photo of this place on the Baja peninsula, but other than that, we knew very little about our destination.
We were the lucky ones: As a family, we were able to hit the road and travel from Sydney to the Tweed Coast (northern New South Wales) without hindrance or hesitation. In any other year, the road trip along the East Coast of Australia can bring a sense of adventure and wonder.
Some of you may ask why I chose Guatemala — especially if you’re like my parents whose idea of adventure is an all-inclusive trip to Cuba.
My last trip was in February 2020, just a month before the coronavirus pandemic shut much of the world down for months on end.

Virtual tours have been a massive hit in 2020, thanks in a large part to the COVID-19 lockdowns. When lockdowns first started in early 2020, many popular venues and institutions were offering virtual tours via social media.
We were deeply moved and inspired by the stories shared in our previous collection on What I Miss Most About Traveling, but every travel lover knows there is no end to the love letter that our world deserves.
A couple of years ago I jumped on the Ancestry DNA bandwagon to discover more about my history. The results weren’t terribly surprising.
