A Chinese energy firm has unveiled plans to construct a life-size replica of the Titanic in a bid to attract tourists. The Sichuan-based Seven Star Energy Investment Group confirmed that it has commissioned an American company to design the replica, using blueprints from the Titanic’s sister ship, RMS Olympic.
This ambitious project is part of a larger strategy to create a world-class tourist destination in the rural county of Daying, located in Sichuan Province. The full-scale model of the Titanic will be permanently docked on the Qi River, offering visitors a chance to experience the grandeur of the legendary ocean liner firsthand.
In addition to the ship itself, plans include the development of a Titanic museum, where tourists can delve into the history of the ill-fated cruise ship and its role in maritime history. The RMS Olympic, launched in 1910, was the Titanic’s nearly identical sister ship and served for 24 years before being retired in Southampton, England.
By creating this immersive attraction, China hopes to draw visitors to the region, making Daying a key destination for both history enthusiasts and Titanic fans alike.
